SMDC-NU Bulldogs notch 1st win in PBA D-League

MANILA – SMDC-National University Bulldogs finally tasted a victory in the 2019 PBA D-League after a 107-75 demolition on CD14 Designs-Trinity on Monday night at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao, Quezon City.

John Lloyd Clemente and Dave Ildefonso tallied 18 points each, while Shawn Ildefonso and John Galinato contributed 17 and 10 markers, respectively, for the Bulldogs.

It was the Bulldogs’ first victory in six matches and kept them in the running for one of the four qualifying spots in the Foundation Group.

“In the first three games, rather than developing, we’re more regressing. But we got ourselves together in the past games and you could see the talent and the upside of this team. Hopefully by us joining the D-League, it will be beneficial for us in the long run,” said Bulldogs head coach Michael Jay Jarin.

Bulldogs went on a strong start behind Clemente as they erected a 29-11 edge. It grew further to as high as 35 points in the second half with Shawn and Dave contributing on offense.

Kimley Medina led the White Stallions with 16 points and four rebounds, while Michael Canete got 14 points, seven boards, and seven blocks in the defeat.

The loss took CD14 Designs-Trinity (0-6) out of the race for the top four spots in its group./PN
