SOCA today: Treñas expands city dev’t agenda

ILOILO City – Mayor Raisa Treñas is expanding her administration’s development agenda from 42 to 45 priority programs, strengthening efforts to improve public services, generate livelihood opportunities and ensure that the benefits of the city’s continued progress reach more Ilonggos.

The expanded programs under the city government’s Rise-To-Action Framework will take center stage in Treñas’ second State of the City Address (SOCA) today, October 26, as she reports her administration’s accomplishments and outlines its priorities for the coming months.

Carrying the theme “Ilonggo at the Center of Progress and Service,” the address will highlight initiatives covering livelihood and employment, social services, healthcare, education, environmental protection, peace and order, infrastructure and other key development sectors.

The expansion of the framework reflects the administration’s continuing efforts to broaden its development initiatives and make government programs more responsive to the needs of communities across Iloilo City.

“Our aspiration is to sustain Iloilo City’s progress, ensuring that every government program and service directly benefits our residents,” Treñas said.

Beyond presenting the administration’s accomplishments, the mayor is expected to emphasize that the true measure of effective governance lies not merely in institutional achievements but in tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary citizens.

“Our success should not be measured solely by the awards and recognition we receive, but by the improvement in the lives of every Ilonggo and the opportunities we can provide them,” she stressed.

Treñas is also expected to underscore the importance of political will and sustained public support in translating government policies and development initiatives into meaningful results.

The city government will likewise present the awards and recognitions Iloilo City has received for its various programs and initiatives.

However, the mayor is expected to emphasize that such distinctions should not overshadow the administration’s fundamental responsibility to deliver accessible, efficient and responsive public services.

The SOCA will also serve as a platform for outlining the administration’s development direction in the coming months, particularly its commitment to inclusive growth and improved service delivery.

Through the expanded Rise-To-Action Framework, the Treñas administration aims to sustain Iloilo City’s development momentum while ensuring that government initiatives address the needs of residents across different sectors.

The annual address is expected to reinforce the administration’s commitment to making the Ilonggo people the central beneficiaries of the city’s development programs, with improvements in their quality of life serving as the ultimate measure of progress./PN
