ILOILO – Tragedy struck Sitio Riro-an, Barangay Acao in Cabatuan town as a 63-year-old was found stabbed and shot to death on Saturday night, March 9.
The suspect in the killing of Simeon Suria is his son, Jespher Suria, 26, who is reportedly suffering from a nervous breakdown.
According to deputy station commander Police Master Sergeant Mary Ann Liba of Cabatuan Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. at the Suria residence after an argument ensued between the two.
The father reportedly reprimanded Jespher for being under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
Simeon suffered a stab wound to his right side and a gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities are now awaiting the family’s decision on whether to press a murder charge against the suspect, while the Cabatuan police disclosed that they are set to file a case under Republic Act No. 10591 for the recovered loose firearm, a homemade shotgun with ammunition./PN
