SP okays contracts for 2 Bacolod flagship projects

BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) on Wednesday approved three contracts for two of the four flagship projects in the city to be implemented this year.

The SP’s nod authorized Mayor Evelio Leonardia to enter into contracts with three different companies – Supreme ABF Construction and Supply Company, Inc.; Wilkinson Construction; and ESJ and Sons Construction and Construction Supply, Inc.

Supreme ABF – represented by Bernabe Gilbor – is the city’s chosen contractor for the Gonzaga Street extension project, which includes the repair of the bridge and drainage system in Barangay 28. The project has a P44,949,942.25 budget.

Wilkinson Construction, meanwhile, is the contractor for the road rehabilitation project in barangays Mansilingan and Felisa.

Wilkinson Ong represented the company in the awarding of the contract with a budget of P61,301,441.94.

These two projects are under the P200-million road and bridge rehabilitation program, whose budget was sourced from the city government’s P1.7-billion loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines.

The loan will also fund the development of the Bacolod City College (BCC) – another flagship project under Leonardia’s administration – worth P349,988,679.47.

The contract for the BCC development was awarded to ESJ and Sons.

There are still two flagship projects up for bidding – the P350-million Progreso Village Relocation Site development and the P800-million construction of the Bacolod MassKara Coliseum./PN
