MANILA — PLDT High Speed Hitters shattered Creamline Cool Smashers’ unbeaten streak in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference Siklab Series with a hard-fought 25-19, 25-27, 25-23, 25-23 victory Thursday night at the Philsports Arena.
Savannah Davison powered the High Speed Hitters with 22 points as PLDT overcame Creamline’s resistance in two tightly contested closing sets to secure its third consecutive victory after opening the tournament with back-to-back losses.
The triumph improved PLDT’s record to 3-2, tying Choco Mucho Flying Titans and Farm Fresh Foxies for third to fifth places while dealing Creamline its first setback after four straight victories.
It also underscored PLDT’s dominance in its recent rivalry with Creamline, having won seven of their last eight encounters.
Dell Palomata backed Davison with 13 points, while Alleiah Malaluan contributed 10 as the High Speed Hitters displayed composure in the crucial stages of the match.
Bernadeth Pons led Creamline with 14 points, while Bea de Leon added 11, but their efforts were not enough to prevent the Cool Smashers from slipping to a 4-1 record.
Meanwhile, Farm Fresh Foxies bolstered their Top 4 aspirations with a come-from-behind 25-21, 16-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-10 victory over sister team ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles.
Trailing by two sets to one, the Foxies mounted a spirited comeback, dominating the fourth set before completing the turnaround in the deciding fifth frame.
Honey Royce Tubino spearheaded Farm Fresh’s offense with 20 points, all from attacks, while Frances Molina delivered 18 points, 12 excellent digs and 17 excellent receptions to earn Player of the Game honors.
Trisha Tubu chipped in 17 markers as the Foxies improved to 3-2, joining PLDT and Choco Mucho in the tight race for the upper spots in the standings.
ZUS Coffee, meanwhile, remained winless in five matches despite Alexis Miner’s 21-point performance. Jolina Dela Cruz contributed 17 points, while Zam Nolasco finished with 16.
The Thunderbelles’ inability to protect their two-set advantage prolonged their struggles in the tournament, while Farm Fresh strengthened its bid for a semifinal berth./PN
