MANILA – PGJC Navy Sealions regained their winning ways in the Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference with a 25-20, 25-18, 19-25, 25-19 victory over D’Navigators-Iloilo on late Wednesday night at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Toto dela Vega spearheaded the offense with 20 points, Greg Dolor added 14 points, while Peter Quiel, Omar Lioc, and Nilo Jasmin contributed nine, seven and six points, respectively, as the Sealions improved to a 2-1 win-loss slate.

After failing to close out the D’Navigators-Iloilo in the third set, the Sealions regained their offense behind the tandem of Dela Vega and Dolor as they established a 24-18 lead.

D’Navigators-Iloilo’s JB San Andres saved a match point after converting a drop ball against the Sealions’ defense, but his teammate Kim Dayadante committed a service error to end the match.

“We lacked service reception, leading to several errors. Communication was also lost at times,” Dela Vega said after the game. “We adjusted and enjoyed the game in the fourth set.”

“Our team chemistry is a work in progress, it’s still a long way to go, but we hope to improve every game,” added Dela Vega, who also concluded the game with 11 excellent digs.

San Andres led the D’Navigators-Iloilo with 15 points, while Madz Gampong contributed 10, and Jayvee Sumagaysay and Edward Camposano added nine points each. They dropped to 1-3 mark.

Meanwhile, Cignal HD Spikers (2-1) recovered from a shocking loss to Savouge Spin Doctors by scoring a dominant 25-10, 25-15, 25-12 victory against Martelli Meats Master Butchers (0-4).

The HD Spikers relied on a well-balanced attack of JM Ronquillo and Mark Calado, who both ended with nine markers apiece in the lopsided win./PN
