ILOILO City – St. Robert’s International Academy Panda Rockets ruled the ILOPRISAA secondary boys basketball with a 67-54 victory over Iloilo Doctor’s College in Game 2 on Saturday at the Hua Siong Ledesco Gym here.

Behind the steady hands of Kyle Sardon, Michsan Onate, Paul Jovan Santome, Jhon Rey Alarcon, and Rio John Doronilla, the Panda Rockets dominated IDC in Game 2 to complete a 2-0 sweep of the best-of-three title series.

Also part of the Panda Rockets team are Luke John Rose, Nike Gadong, Shaun Arnold Gumela. Airez John Macadangdang, Rusell Clib Puga, Derrick Suspena, and Ace Maestral.

The John Guanco-mentored Panda Rockets also won Game 1 of the championship series against IDC, 74-59, last Tuesday at the same venue.

“I am happy with this achievement because this is our first ILOPRISAA secondary boys title. It was a total team effort from the coaches to the players,” said Panda Rockets team manager Eugene Chua.

“Dati we only settle for runner-up finishes, but our players really stepped up our preparation, even during the offseason, kaya there is no surprise that we achieved our goal,” he added.

The Panda Rockets finished the elimination round undefeated before they ousted Angelicum School of Iloilo, 71-56, in their semifinal duel last week.

The Panda Rockets will next head to the Integrated Meet, followed by the Regional Meet, for an opportunity to represent Western Visayas in next year’s Palarong Pambansa./PN
