KALIBO, Aklan – The Ifugao State University (IFSU) insists they are legally operating in the province of Aklan despite having no permit from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Western Visayas.
IFSU vice president Dr. Nancy Ann Gonzales on Monday spearheaded a team from the university to talk to students taking up master’s degrees in different colleges here.
“The regional offices of CHED do not evaluate doctorate programs. Only the national office does so. We are operating in the province (and in Iloilo) through the blended concept of distance learning and classroom type,” she told the students.
She also confirmed reports that their students have a choice to attend the graduation ceremony in their international campuses in Malaysia and Thailand.
“I hope you will be one of our graduates,” she said.
Earlier, Dr. Christy Laurente of CHED in Iloilo City warned Aklanons against the operation of IFSU in the province.
Laurente, during the Kapehan sa Aklan on May 27, said the agency is receiving reports that IFSU teachers have been teaching in hotels and convention centers./PN
