BACOLOD City – Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) urged members-consumers-owners (MCOs) to refrain from touching or going near toppled down electric poles and lines for safety purposes.
They must instead wait for Ceneco’s technical crew to assess the poles and lines.
All toppled down poles or lines hit by trees shall be endorsed to Ceneco’s contractors as standard operating procedure (SOP), the electric cooperative stressed.
Affected communities may only assist in tree-clearing operations upon securing the clearance of Ceneco personnel on site.
On the other hand, the clearing of fallen trees not affecting Ceneco distribution lines or poles shall be endorsed to the local authority (Barangay) for appropriate action.
The maintenance teams of Ceneco called “warriors of light” are working 24/7 to restore electricity in some other franchise areas of the electric cooperative affected by super typhoon “Odette”.
Meanwhile, the average power rate for the billing month of December is P8.7761 per kilowatt hour (/kWh), according to Ceneco.
There’s a decrease of P1.2859/kWh from last month’s rate of P10.0620/kWh.
The drop could be attributed to the reduction in the generation, transmission and systems loss charges, among others, according to Ceneco officer-in-charge Jose Taniogon./PN
