AKLAN – A Grade 10 student of the Department of Education’s Alternative Learning System (ALS) was shot inside the premises of Numancia Integrated School in Numancia town here yesterday morning, October 1.
The 19-year-old alias “Ed”, a resident of the town’s Barangay Bulwang, sustained nine gunshot wounds on his body, according to the Numancia Municipal Police Station. He was brought to Aklan Provincial Hospital.
Based on initial investigation, the victim ran into the group of suspects during recess and one of them suddenly shot the former using an alleged 12-gauge shotgun.
In a report of RMN DYKR Kalibo, the alleged gunman was a Grade11 student of the said school.
The four suspects, who were all minors, tried to flee after the incident but they were immediately arrested through the help of the school guard.
All suspects are now under the custody of the Numancia MPS for proper disposition.
Police have yet to determine the motive behind the shooting.
Meanwhile, classes at Numancia Integrated School were suspended yesterday following the incident./PN
