KALIBO, Aklan – Around 1,140 faculty members and students of the Regional Science High School in this town on Monday formed a human flag and offered prayers to the victims of the Marawi siege.

Josephine Vicente, school adviser of the Supreme Student Government, said they decided to take the initiative upon receiving a memorandum from the Department of Education to hold activities for the national flag month.

“As I was going to Iloilo, I was thinking of what would we do. Then I saw this huge flag there and then I decided to celebrate the flag month in the act of human flag,” Vicente said.

After the documentation of their human flag, the students offered prayers for Marawi City.

Marawi has been under siege by terrorists since May. President Rodrigo Duterte then declared martial law in Mindanao.

“We also prayed that teachers and students in Marawi will be able to return to school and live in normal peace,” she said. (With PNA/PN)
