BORACAY – A training school is calling on drug surrenderees in Western Visayas were encouraged to study carpentry and masonry.

Such skills may open them to possible overseas employment opportunities.

“We are anticipating Japan to need more skilled workers to work on facilities for the Olympics,” said Jefferson Quiamco, vice president of the Golden Heroes School of Trade. “We are also anticipating a need from Guam (United States).”

Japan is hosting the Olympics in 2020.

“We especially welcome those tokhang surrenderees,” said Quiamco. “Tokhang surrenderees who trained with us already built a large hotel in Manila last year.”

The Golden Heroes School of Trade is the only Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-accredited school in Western Visayas for the dual training system (DTS).

No Aklanon has enrolled yet in the DTS since the school was accredited in 2015. (PNA)
