CAPIZ —The Capiztahan Surambaw Seafood Feast on April 17, held at the Capiz Gymnasium in Roxas City served as a grand celebration of the province’s rich marine resources and culinary heritage.
Locals and tourists flocked to the venue, savoring an impressive spread of seafood that showcased the province’s abundant harvests.
Dubbed the “Seafood Capital of the Philippines,” Capiz took center stage as the feast highlighted the distinct flavors of the sea—elements that define the province’s cultural identity.
Organized by the Association of Resorts, Restaurants, and Hotels of Capiz (ARRHC), in collaboration with the Capiz Provincial Government, the Surambaw Seafood Feast underscored the community’s unity and deep appreciation of its coastal resources.
Guests were treated to a wide array of dishes, including succulent crabs seasoned with spices, plump shrimp ready for dipping, assorted mollusks, and freshly caught fish, all expertly prepared and attractively presented.
Beyond seafood, tables brimmed with a variety of meats, vibrant appetizers, fresh fruits, and well-loved Capisnon delicacies, offering something for every palate.
The term “surambaw,” derived from a traditional lever net used by local fisherfolk, pays tribute to the enduring practices of Capiz’s fishing communities.
