Suspect in robbery attempt captured in President Roxas

ROXAS City – Police arrested a suspect in an alleged attempt to rob a lending company officer in President Roxas, Capiz.

Senior Inspector Armando Clavaton, municipal police chief, identified the suspect as Ramil Bogabriel, 42, of Barangay Goce, President Roxas.

A hot pursuit launched by the municipal police led to the capture of Bogabriel on Monday, said Clavaton.

Citing witnesses, police said Bogabriel fired at the 24-year-old Julius Galfo, who was driving a motorcycle toward the President Roxas proper at around 12:30 p.m.

Galfo, a resident of Jordan, Guimaras, was a microfinance officer of ASA Lending.

His back rider, Lynlyn Pastrana, 32, of the same village, told the police Bogabriel fired three shots in a bid to stop them.

At the time, police said, Galfo was in possession of P30,000 worth of collection.

Ginpalukpan sila tatlo ka beses pero wala sila nagpundo,” Clavaton told Panay News.

Pastrana’s statement was corroborated by another resident, Leonora Campos, 43, who saw the suspect prior to the shooting, said the police.

Dako ang nabulig sang back rider nga si Pastrana kay kilala niya ang suspect kay isa lang sila ka lugar,” Clavaton added.

Galfo and Pastrana rushed to the police station, whose officers immediately launched a hot pursuit.

A holdup incident happened in the same village a few months ago but the suspect was wearing a bonnet, police said./PN
