Suspected ‘shabu’ worth P170K, firearm seized in Bacolod buy-bust

BACOLOD City – Police arrested a 50-year-old suspected drug personality and seized approximately 25 grams of suspected shabu, a firearm, and ammunition in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City, on October 31.

The suspect, identified only by the alias “Amad,” was arrested around 12:15 a.m. at Purok Rosal.

The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) estimated the seized suspected shabu to be worth P170,000 based on its standard drug price.

The operation was conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), with support from the City Intelligence Unit and Police Station 6.

Authorities launched the operation after receiving information from a confidential informant regarding the suspect’s alleged involvement in illegal drug activities in the area.

Police conducted surveillance and validation before arranging a drug transaction through the informant, which led to the buy-bust operation.

Aside from the suspected illegal drugs, operatives also recovered buy-bust money, suspected proceeds from illegal drug transactions, a firearm with live ammunition, and other non-drug evidence.

The suspect remains under police custody pending the filing of charges for alleged violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

PRO-NIR Director Brig. Gen. Rudecindo L. Reales said the regional police office would sustain its operations against illegal drug activities.

“We will not tolerate the proliferation of illegal drugs in our communities. PRO-NIR will remain relentless in going after those involved in this unlawful trade and ensuring that they face the full force of the law,” Reales said../PN
