BACOLOD City – The local government of Talisay City, Negros Occidental is set to establish three police sub-stations in key barangays to boost security and police visibility.
Mayor Rowena Lizares said the plan came after her discussion with Lieutenant Colonel Alvin Christopher Baybayan, chief of the Talisay City Police Station. She stressed the need to strengthen law enforcement, particularly after recent reports of bodies being found in some parts of the city.
“In Talisay, there are so many entry points coming from Bacolod City and even an express road from Murcia. Kadamo na sang masudlan nila,” Lizares said, underscoring the importance of tighter security.
Police checkpoints have already been set up in certain areas. To make the sub-stations accessible, the city government plans to use modified container vans and enhance coordination with the Citizen Crime Watch group to support barangay tanods in responding quickly to emergencies.
The proposed sub-stations will be located in barangays Concepcion and Don Hermanas, as well as along the Bacolod-Silay highway.
The city mayor noted that despite security concerns, the recent 26th Minuluan Festival, held from September 6 to 10, was “successful and peaceful,” with no crime-related incidents reported during the five-day celebration./PN
