ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has created a task group to run after scalawags in uniform.

The Counter Intelligence Task Force (CITF) is made up of police officers of good moral character, said Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, PRO-6 spokesperson.

They will monitor the activities of policemen as part of the internal cleaning in the Philippine National Police.

Gorero declined to name the police officers composing the CITF, saying their task is sensitive and must be done discretely.

“CITF was created to eradicate police rogues that adversely affect the entire PNP,” said Gorero.

Policemen who are into illegal drugs, illegal gambling, mulcting, and moonlighting are among those to be scrutinized.

“We want to win back the community’s trust. Policemen’s salaries have been increased. We have to render commensurate service to the public,” said Gorero.

All information that CITF has gathered would be subjected to validation, he added.

“We do not tolerate police scalawags,” said Gorero.

He also said the PRO-6 welcomes reports from the community about policemen coursed through the following hotlines: 09989702286 (Smart) and 09957952569 (Globe).

“The information we receive would be treated with utmost secretary. Call us anytime or text us,” said Gorero./PN
