CEBU City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School stamped its authority on the Big Four Season 4 Girls’ Volleyball Tournament by delivering a flawless two-division sweep, underscoring the program’s depth and consistency at the grassroots level.
The Thunderbolts ruled both the 15-and-under and 13-and-under divisions on Monday, finishing unbeaten in each bracket to clinch back-to-back championships under head coach Ian Macariola, with assistants Gersan Banzuela and Brahm Cadeliña.
In the 15U division, Tay Tung capped its title run with a finals victory over Sanjus Cebuana after turning back Sibonga, Cebu in the semifinals. The championship was fueled by standout performances from Samantha Yssobel Cañete and Mary Regine Wongyan, who shared Most Valuable Player honors, while Marishka Alexandria Andrada was named Best Setter.
Also part of the 15U championship roster were Czarina Aleksi Ang, Rayne Angela Dela Cruz, Annicka Zoe Chua, Mari Antoinette Cacho, Xadre Zade España, Nicole Getino, Jessica Jayne Soco, Ariane Mae Alayon, Chennie Mie Millama, Sheree Frederiz Uy, and Gail Ordaniel.
The Thunderbolts mirrored that dominance in the 13U category, brushing aside DCES Cebu in the semifinals before edging Sanjus Cebuana in the finals to complete an unbeaten campaign.
Annicka Zoe Chua anchored the 13U squad and was named Most Valuable Player, with Rayne Angela Dela Cruz earning Best Setter honors. Rheatyshia Khate Lim was recognized as Best Middle Blocker, while Chennie Mie Millama claimed Best Libero.
Completing the 13U championship lineup were Czarina Alexandria Ang, Mari Antoinette Cacho, Sheree Frederiz Uy, Gail Ordaniel, Madison Garcia, Princess Chenny Auditor, and Jana Bhaje Cadeliña.
The twin titles highlighted Tay Tung’s strong developmental pipeline and reinforced its growing reputation as a powerhouse in girls’ volleyball, producing results across multiple age groups in one of the region’s competitive youth tournaments./PN
