Teen drowns in Leganes, body fished out in La Paz waters

ILOILO City – A lifeless teenager was found floating off the shore of Barangay Hinactacan, La Paz district on Monday.

The 19-year-old Salvie John Danay was a resident of Barangay Balod, Zarraga, Iloilo, the Philippine Coast Guard said.

Officers from the Coast Guard Substation in Dumangas town and the Coast Guard Special Operating Forces retrieved the body at around 9 a.m.

From what Coast Guard investigators have gathered, Danay drowned after suffering from cramps while swimming at the Jaen Beach Resort in Barangay MV Hechanova, Leganes town at around 10 a.m. Sunday.

Coastguards searched for the teenager that day but suspended the operation due to “poor visibility,” a Coast Guard report stated.

The search and rescue team resumed at around 6 a.m. Monday until they found the body off the shore of this city.

The body of Danay was taken by his family, the Coast Guard said./PN
