Teen fugitive falls in Calinog

ILOILO City – A 17-year-old boy tagged as the No. 2 most wanted person in Western Visayas was arrested on in Barangay Poblacion Rizal Ilaya, Calinog, Iloilo.

Police said alias “Noy” was collared at around 11:17 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, two years after the six counts of rape by carnal knowledge case was filed.

The arrest was carried out by joint operatives of the Calinog Municipal Police Station, Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Intelligence Unit, and 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, 6th Judicial Region, Branch 76 in Janiuay, Iloilo, dated November 11, 2024, with no bail recommended.

The minor was turned over to the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Calinog for proper disposition.

Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), commended the operating units for the successful taking into custody of a minor.

“The PRO-6 reaffirms its commitment to public safety and the rule of law while ensuring strict observance of due process and juvenile justice laws. The operation was carried out with full respect for the child’s rights and welfare, in coordination with concerned agencies, as we remain firm in law enforcement while upholding compassion, responsibility, and respect for human dignity,” Ligan said./PN
