NEGROS Occidental — An 18-year-old motorcycle rider was killed while three minors sustained injuries in a head-on collision involving two motorcycles along a barangay road in Barangay Burgos, Cadiz City, on Wednesday afternoon, June 24.
Police identified the fatality only as “Seve,” an 18-year-old resident of Hacienda Enriqueta, Barangay Burgos. He was driving a black RUSI 125 motorcycle with a 14-year-old passenger.
A report from the Cadiz City Component Police Station (CCPS) showed that the accident occurred at around 5 p.m. when two motorcycles traveling in opposite directions collided.
One of the motorcycles, a red RUSI 125, was being driven by a 15-year-old resident of Hacienda Mayo, Barangay Sicaba, and was heading toward Barangay Burgos from Cadiz City proper. The other motorcycle, driven by Seve, was traveling from Barangay Sicaba toward Crossing Martesan.
Based on the initial investigation, Seve allegedly lost control of his motorcycle and veered into the opposite lane, colliding with the oncoming motorcycle.
The impact threw all three occupants onto the concrete pavement, causing multiple injuries.
Personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) immediately responded and brought the victims to the Cadiz District Hospital for medical treatment.
However, Seve was declared dead by the attending physician at around 5:55 p.m.
The three other victims survived and were receiving treatment as of the latest police report.
Both motorcycles sustained damage, although authorities have yet to determine the extent of the losses.
The vehicles were taken into police custody for proper disposition as investigators continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash./PN
