ILOILO – A 17-year-old student fatally stabbed a 25-year-old fish vendor in Barangay Sapa, Miag-ao, Iloilo.
The victim identified as alias “Dol” was outside his home around 12:50 a.m. on Sunday, May 18, participating in a small barangay activity when the attack occurred.
According to authorities, the suspect, alias “Tangol,” suddenly approached and stabbed Dol in the chest. The victim’s mother witnessed the horrifying act and rushed her son to the Guimbal District Hospital, where he was later declared dead.
The incident has sparked concern among locals, as the suspect is still a minor and a student.
“This kind of violence involving young people is deeply troubling,” said Police Major Richard Lao, chief of the Miag-ao Municipal Police Station.
While the exact cause of the altercation remains under investigation, Lao confirmed that police were looking into a previous conflict between the suspect and the victim as a potential motive.
A hot pursuit operation led to the arrest of the suspect, who is now in police custody and expected to face a murder charge./PN
