The 98-point guy

SOCIAL media were abuzz when the Next5Hoops tournament Facebook page posted on Monday that a certain Mac Santos scored 98 points, had three rebounds and one assist in his team Warfit Angelis Resort’s 136-71 win over Kings of the Court.

While many were amazed by his performance since he has singlehandedly drained 28 3-pointers, others mocked him for being ball hog and even taunted his one assist, saying he should have just converted to make 100 points.

Santos, a barangay chairman in Las Piñas City, said in an online interview that he did not expect his offensive outburst. He even had no plan to play after attending to a feeding program earlier that day.

“Actually tatlong games na magkakasabay noong araw na iyon. Inisip ko kung saan ako maglalaro. Dapat hindi na kasi medyo pagod ako galing sa feeding program,” Santos told the FHM website.

Prior to his 98-point explosion, the league’s scoring record was just 50 points, which Santos admitted was his initial aim, but then he went on to score more as he felt the heat of his shooting.

PBA MEET-AND-GREET IN ILOILO

A hundred Ilonggos will be given a chance to meet and greet their favorite PBA players during the 2018 PBA All-Star Games Visayas leg on May 27 at the University of San Agustin Gym in Iloilo City.

Bayani Ladrido, event operation head, said 100 paying fans will be chosen in a Priority Meet and Greet Pass with PBA players who will suit up in the All-Stars Visayas against Gilas Pilipinas exhibition.

“The lucky 100 fans will get the chance to get up close and personal, and talk to their favorite PBA and Gilas players! The earlier they buy tickets, the higher chances of winning,” Ladrido said. “We will be very strict with completing the mechanics.”

Following are the mechanics:

1) Purchase a ticket for the exhibition game between PBA All-Star Visayas and Gilas Pilipinas. One ticket corresponds to one entry.

2) Post a photo with the tickets on both Facebook and Instagram and use the hashtags #PBAsaIloilo #PBAAllStarIloilo #ToyotaIloilo #PGOIloilo. As much as possible, be creative with your photo (e.g., wear your favorite player’s jerseys, shoot a basketball, pose with the PBA All Star Iloilo tarpaulin, pose with a Toyota Iloilo car, etc.).

3) Like the Facebook page @PBAsaIloilo and follow the Instagram profile @pbasailoilo.

4) Tag the photo on Facebook and Instagram page.

5) Share this photo with the hashtag #PBAsaIloilo

6) Make sure the Facebook profiles are on public so the posts can be viewed.

Deadline of entries is on May 18. Winners will be announced on May 22 via Instagram. Tickets are still available at the Toyota branch on Diversion Road (Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue), Iloilo City./PN
