SAN JOSE, Antique – The municipality of Tibiao in this province inaugurated its newly-completed fire station in Barangay Malabor yesterday.

The P2.3-million funding for the building was provided by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) national office, said the agency’s provincial information officer Vilmarie Pagunsan on July 28.

BFP regional director Senior Superintendent Jerry Candido spearheaded the inauguration of the new station.

According to Pagunsan, Senior Fire Officer 1 Alfredo N. Ortiaga Jr. will serve as the officer-in-charge of the newly-completed building.

The fire officers used a small space at the municipal hall before they got their own building.
“The fire station is already the 15th one in this province,” Pagunsan, a Fire Officer 2, said.

“Its facade and structural design are according to the design made by the national headquarters,” she added.

Tibiao’s station is also the fourth typical fire house to be constructed in this province.

The three others are in Tobias Fornier, San Remigio and this capital town.

Hamtic, Anini-y and Caluya, on the other hand, are currently the only three of the 18 municipalities in this province without fire stations. (With a report from PNA/PN)
