Top GSIS exec guest in Bacolod June 12 celebration

BACOLOD City – Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) president and general manager Jesus Clint Aranas will be the guest speaker in the 120th Independence Day celebration in this capital city.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said Aranas has already confirmed his arrival.

“The president and general manager of GSIS is from Bacolod and we are very proud of that,” Leonardia said.

“GSIS is a vital component of our country’s sense of financial security and it is only when that economic stability is enjoyed by our government employees, the citizenry in general, that we can truly say we have earned our independence. We find his involvement very meaningful,” he added.

The Independence Day celebration will start with a flag-raising ceremony at the public plaza at 6:30 a.m. on June 12.

A wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument of Unknown Soldier will follow. After that, a program where Aranas will speak will begin.

There will also be an Independence Day parade starting 1 p.m. from the Sacred Heart Shrine (Lupit Church) to the public plaza.

Rep. Greg Gasataya, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, top city and national government officials, war veterans, civic leaders, and private citizens are expected to attend./PN
