MANILA — Fresh from being selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League Rookie Draft, Guimarasnon setter Camille Lamina is already setting the tone for her professional career, vowing to bring the championship mindset, discipline, and winning culture that defined her collegiate success to the Galeries Tower Highrisers.

The former National University standout, who emerged as the top choice in this year’s draft, is expected to become a cornerstone of Galeries Tower’s rebuilding efforts as the franchise looks to climb the ranks of the country’s premier volleyball league.

Lamina said being chosen first overall was both an honor and a reflection of the confidence the organization has placed in her abilities.

“For me, siyempre fulfilling, ako yung isa sa mga napili ng Team Galeries. It shows yung trust na ako pa talaga yung napili. Very happy and very grateful,” Lamina said.

The 24-year-old playmaker, however, emphasized that her focus is now on helping transform the Highrisers into a more competitive squad.

A three-time UAAP champion and three-time Best Setter for the National University Lady Bulldogs, Lamina said she hopes to instill the same work ethic and competitive spirit that helped NU establish itself as one of the most dominant collegiate volleyball programs in recent years.

“Since I am from a champion team, which is NU, ang mabibigay ko lang at mao-offer ko sa Galeries ay kung gaano ako ka-competitive inside and outside the court at yung hard work, discipline, at yung work ethic ko,” she added.

Lamina joins a Galeries Tower roster that includes veteran players and former national team standouts, with the franchise banking on her leadership, court intelligence, and experience in pressure-packed situations to accelerate its development.

Known for her exceptional court vision and ability to orchestrate an offense, Lamina is expected to play a pivotal role in directing the Highrisers’ attack as the team seeks to establish itself as a legitimate contender in future PVL campaigns./PN
