ILOILO — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is urging Ilonggo households to fully cooperate with survey teams as the nationwide 2025 Household Survey on Domestic Visitors (HSDV) officially rolls out across Iloilo Province and Iloilo City from May 4 to 26, a critical data-gathering effort aimed at strengthening tourism planning and policy development.
PSA-Iloilo emphasized that the success of the survey hinges on the participation of randomly selected households, as the data collected will directly shape tourism programs and evidence-based decision-making in the Philippines.
Chief Statistical Specialist Jerry Dolutan of the PSA Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO) underscored the importance of public cooperation, noting that the survey will generate vital information on travel patterns of both domestic and international visitors.
“Authorized PSA personnel may visit randomly selected households in Iloilo Province and Iloilo City to conduct interviews using digital devices for faster and more accurate data collection. All information provided will be kept strictly confidential and will be used for statistical purposes only. If your household is selected, we encourage your full cooperation. Your participation contributes to better data and stronger tourism development for the country,” part of the advisory of PSA-Iloilo stated.
The HSDV, conducted every three years, is a nationwide statistical undertaking jointly implemented by the PSA and the Department of Tourism (DOT), in accordance with PSA Board Resolution No. 05, Series of 2021.
In Iloilo Province, the survey will cover 27 sample Primary Sampling Units (PSUs), while an additional 32 PSUs have been identified within Iloilo City, ensuring a wide and representative data base.
To enhance accuracy and reliability, the PSA is utilizing the 2023 Geo-Enabled Master Sample (GeoMS), which incorporates georeferenced coordinates for all selected households. Trained Statistical Researchers (SRs) will conduct interviews using Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) technology through tablets, allowing real-time data validation and faster submission to central servers.
PSA-Iloilo assured the public that all survey personnel, including SRs and Team Supervisors, will be easily identifiable through official 2025 HSDV polo shirts and valid identification cards.
The agency further guaranteed that all collected information will remain strictly confidential, in compliance with Republic Act No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013 and the Data Privacy Act of 2012, and will be used solely for statistical purposes./PN
