CONSUMERS will see a drop in transmission rates in their electric bills this month, according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
In a media briefing on Monday, June 15, it said the overall average transmission rates decreased by 9.33 percent to P1.4492 per kilowatt hour (kWh) in May, from P1.5983 per kWh a month ago.
The decline in transmission charges would reflect on consumers’ power bills in June.
The country’s grid operator said the slash in transmission rates was driven by lower costs from wheeling and ancillary services.
Wheeling rates is what the NGCP charges for delivering electricity from power generation facilities to distribution systems. Ancillary service rates, meanwhile, cover the cost of power sourced from the reserve market and generators with deals with the NGCP.
“For the June 2026 electric bill of end-consumers, NGCP charges only 56 centavos per kWh for the delivery of its services,” the company said. (Lisbet K. Esmael © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
