Trapped man killed in Guimbal house fire

ILOILO City – A 72-year-old man died of suffocation in a house fire in Barangay Bagumbayan, Guimbal, Iloilo.

Police identified him as resident Nicanor Suobiron, who was reportedly living alone.

Senior Fire Officer 3 Russel Gotera said the blaze broke out on Suobiron’s two-storey residential house around 3:50 a.m. on Wednesday.

Gotera added that the victim was suffocated to death after he was trapped inside his room at the height of the fire.

Arson investigators said the blaze left an estimated P432,000 in damages.

Personnel of Bureau of Fire Investigation declared a “fire out” around 4:56 a.m./PN
