ILOILO – A counter-flowing tricycle resulted in a fatal road crash along the highway in Barangay Acuit, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, claiming the life of a 62-year-old driver on Monday night, October 19.
The victim was identified by police as alias “Dwin,” a married resident of the town’s Barangay Cabilauan.
Initial police investigation showed that the wing van truck driven by alias “Jess,” 32, of Barangay Calapawan, Panay, Capiz was traveling from Iloilo City when the oncoming tricycle driven by Dwin suddenly swerved into the truck’s lane.
Jess reportedly attempted to maneuver away to avoid the collision, but the tricycle crashed into the truck, hurling Dwin onto the pavement.
Responders rushed the victim to the Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center, where attending physicians declared him dead on arrival.
As of this writing, Jess remained detained at the Barotac Nuevo Police Station as the victim’s wife has yet to decide whether to formally file charges against the driver./PN
