NEGROS Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) marked its first year in August as the power distributor for central Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, with a meaningful and relevant activity — a surgical mission.
Held at the government-run Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod, the mission spearheaded by Enrique Razon’s power firm provided surgical operations for 17 beneficiaries, most of them children.
With the help of top-notch surgeons from the World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), the life-changing mission gave Negros Power its first milestone chapter in Bacolod and Negros Occidental — a story still in the making but already deeply significant.
Rewind: Negros Power’s entry into central Negros, replacing the “problematic” Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) through a 25-year joint venture agreement (JVA), was not easy.
Through its parent company, Primelectric Holdings, Inc. (PHI), Negros Power endured public scrutiny and even online bashing. But its president and CEO, Roel Castro, remained optimistic about delivering what Bacolodnons and Negrenses truly deserved — quality, efficient, and reliable power distribution services that exceed expectations.

A year later, Castro has proven himself credible. Not 100% perfect, but Negros Power has become a trusted power distributor in Bacolod, Silay, Bago, Talisay, Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto — making a leap that has made a significant difference in this digital age.
KEEPING THE PROMISE
Fulfilling its pledge to provide sustainable, reliable, and affordable power has truly endeared Negros Power to Bacolodnons and Negrenses. And Castro is the man who delivered that promise. His vision is exceptional, his work ethic commendable, and every word he utters is made relatable and attainable.
He is not fond of empty palabra de honor. Instead, he values action and results.
As a hands-on executive, he has made Negros Power more “tangible” and approachable to its consumers.

Castro’s out-of-the-box ideas also matter. The surgical mission was a highly commendable initiative — a literal turning of a new leaf for the beneficiaries who underwent life-changing procedures. These positive results will forever be etched in the hearts and minds of the recipients.
