Two Iloilo centenarians receive P100,000 cash gift

ILOILO – Two centenarians in this province were recently honored with a P100,000 cash gift each, along with a letter of felicitation signed by the President of the Philippines and a certificate of recognition from the national government.

The recipients, Aurora Bullos, a 100-year-old resident of Carles, Iloilo, and Roberto Borres-Bedo, a 100-year-old from Batad, Iloilo, received the cash gift last week.

The turnover ceremony was attended by Mariecar Labinghisa, Child and Youth Focal of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6, along with Administrative Assistant II Felinor Navarra, Project Development Officer I Christine Mae Mallorca, and Social Welfare Assistant Micah Joy De La Cruz.

The local government units (LGUs) of Carles and Batad also participated in the event.

This recognition is part of the national government’s ongoing efforts to honor centenarians, celebrating their longevity and resilience while acknowledging their significant contributions to society.

The P100,000 cash gift is provided under Republic Act 10868, known as the Centenarian Act of 2016, which mandates a one-time cash award for Filipino citizens who reach the age of 100./PN
