UNEGA, Love Negros names PCL prexy bet

BACOLOD City – The top councilors of Silay and Sagay City will be battling for the presidency of the Philippine Councilor’s League (PCL) Negros Occidental Chapter.

Silay City councilor Ryan Gamboa was reportedly fielded by Love Negros against Sagay City Councilor Arturo Marañon of the United Negros Alliance (UNEGA).

Gamboa is a former news anchor for a local TV network and son of the late Vice Governor Roy Gamboa.  Meanwhile, Marañon is the son of former governor Alfredo Marañon Jr.

According to Negros Occidental sixth district representative Genaro Alvarez, the elected PCL president will represent the councilor’s league in the provincial board.

Alvarez also revealed that his grandson, councilor Ralph Alvarez was first considered to be fielded by Love Negros, but he declined.

Gamboa, meanwhile, said in a text message he sent to the media, confirmed he is being considered but his party has yet to finalize the proposal.

The election is slated on September./PN
