ILOILO City – Over 1,000 market vendors in Iloilo City received a cash grant of P15,000 each from Cong. Jojo Ang of Uswag Ilonggo Party-list during the Sustainable Livelihood Program payout held at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand here yesterday, December 5.
The program, spearheaded by Uswag Ilonggo in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development and Iloilo City Government headed by Mayor Jerry Treñas through the Local Economic Enterprise Office, aims to aid financially challenged and displaced market vendors.
During his speech, Ang emphasized that this is only the first batch of payout for the Sustainable Livelihood Program, adding that the party-list has been consistently providing support for small and medium enterprises throughout the region, especially market vendors, through cash grants as capital for their businesses.
“Kabay pa nga ang P15,000 mahimo ninyo P150,000 kag sa ulihi mangin P1.5 million. Wala sang imposible kung nagatinguha kamo kag yari ako gasuporta gid sa inyo sang matuod-tuod gid,” said Ang.
The Sustainable Livelihood Program aims to empower low-income families by providing opportunities for sustainable income through skills training, capital assistance, and livelihood support.
