
ILOILO – Ten people were rushed to the hospital after the Toyota Tamaraw they were riding in figured in a road accident in Barangay Punong, Passi City, Iloilo, late Sunday afternoon, February 22.
Authorities said the driver, identified as Punong Barangay Lee Quimsing of West Habog-habog, Molo, Iloilo City, lost control of the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to land on a grassy area off the road past 5 p.m.
According to Police Master Sergeant John Hersly Fajardo of the Passi City Police Station, Quimsing’s group was traveling from Iloilo City to Passi City Arena to participate in the Pintados de Pasi basketball tournament.
The passengers included two basketball players and members of the coaching staff of the Molo district basketball team, and several team supporters.
Other members of the team were reportedly traveling in a separate vehicle and were unharmed, police added.
Initial reports indicate that the injured passengers were discharged after treatment for minor injuries./PN
