CAPIZ – A 44-year-old vendor, identified only as “Florencio” of Barangay Tiza, Roxas City, is facing multiple charges after a tense encounter with police led to the discovery of suspected illegal drugs.
According to Police Chief Master Sergeant Ramil Arcangeles, officers on routine patrol noticed suspicious activity in Sitio Casandra, Barangay Punta Tabuc on September 1 and approached the area. Upon seeing the police, Florencio allegedly brandished a knife, prompting the officers to immediately subdue him.
During the arrest, authorities recovered a pouch and a cigarette pack containing 45 plastic sachets of suspected shabu.
Florencio also admitted to using the substance, Arcangeles said.
He is now facing charges for violation of Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), direct assault on a person in authority, and violation of Batas Pambansa Bilang 6, which penalizes violence against public officials.
