BACOLOD City — A 63-year-old barangay chairman survived a stabbing attack inside his residence in Barangay Canlandog, Murcia, Negros Occidental, on August 7, 2026.
Police identified the victim only as alias “Cardo,” while the suspect was identified as his nephew, alias “Ronald,” 35, and a resident of the same barangay.
According to the Murcia Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred at about 7:55 a.m. in Purok Mainuswagon.
Initial police investigation showed that the suspect went to the victim’s residence and allegedly shouted, “Kap, gwa da, patyon ta ka!” before kicking open the main door.
The suspect reportedly forced his way inside and kicked the bedroom door. When he saw the victim standing behind it, he allegedly stabbed him on the right side of his abdomen.
The suspect immediately fled the area and reportedly hid inside a nipa hut behind his residence.
Responding police officers later located and arrested the suspect. He is currently under the custody of the Murcia Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
The victim was rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center in Bacolod City for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.
Police said a previous misunderstanding between the victim and the suspect is being considered as the possible motive for the attack./PN
