BACOLOD City – Two village watchmen were shot dead by a member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit around 12:30 a.m. yesterday in Barangay Canlusong, EB Magalona town.
Armando Labto and Aurelio Bendol, both residents of the barangay, sustained multiple gunshot wounds on their bodies.
Police Senior Inspector Bonifacio Aral, EB Magalona police chief, identified the suspect as Reynante Villarosa, a resident of Purok Riverside, Barangay San Isidro in the town.
Police said the incident happened during the pre-fiesta celebration of the barangay.
Villarosa, who was assigned at the group’s San Isidro Detachment, went to the plaza and drank.
A commotion happened around 11:30 p.m., investigation disclosed.
The two watchmen reportedly pacified the commotion.
The suspect, meanwhile, took his M14 rifle and shot the victims.
Labto and Bendol were rushed to Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City but both were declared dead on arrival.
Villarosa reportedly surrendered after the incident./PN
