ROXAS City — Everyone who visits the Baybay beach, one of the tourist attractions in this capital city, can get a unique spa experience.

A beauty center and spa, manned by women residents of the coastal village of Baybay, has opened at the La Playa People’s Park here.

The Blue Ladies Beauty Center and Spa offers services like body massage, haircut and hair treatments, manicure, pedicure, foot massage and foot scrub.

It is in fact a livelihood program involving Blue Ladies — an organization of women formed by Mayor Angel Alan Celino to help the city government in implementing its programs and initiatives — in Brgy. Baybay.

It was conceptualized by Blue Ladies officer-in-charge Jacky Donato and approved by Celino.

The beauty center and spa started operating on Wednesday.

It is open from Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and from Saturday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Blue Ladies manning the establishment had undergone a 45-day training on beauty and spa services at the Baybay Barangay Hall under the City Social Welfare and Development Office led by Cynthia Besana.

Donato said the project aims to provide additional income and livelihood to women in the barangays, especially after super typhoon “Yolanda,” which battered Visayas on November 8 last year.

Some older Blue Ladies, who had shaky hands, had to be replaced by their daughters, according to Donato.

Donato said the beauty center and spa is exempted from paying taxes.

CSWDO provided the trainers for the Blue Ladies.
