
MANILA – Motolite Power Builders got back on the winning track in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference. It defeated Chef’s Classics Lady Red Spikers, 25-19, 25-23, 25-22, at the San Juan Arena.
Diana Carlos spearheaded the win with 26 points, on 23 attacks, two blocks and a service ace on Wednesday while Bacolodnon Jessma Ramos delivered 11 markers.
The Power Builders improved to 7-3
win-loss slate.
Maria Lina Molde flirted with triple-double (16 digs, 12 excellent receptions
and eight points) while Myla Pablo made her return from a right metatarsal
sprain injury with just two points.
The Power Builders allowed the Lady Red Spikers to erase a 16-11 edge before escaping with a second set win. Same in the third frame, where the heroics of Carlos carried the Motolite down the stretch.
“A win is a win but in the last two sets we were kind of vulnerable. We let them lead and then we started fighting from behind,” said Power Builders head coach Godfrey Okumu.
“Sometimes a team needs to play like this to rediscover themselves, how they can fight from behind. It’s a good win and the players played well.”
Nieza Viray finished with double-double 15 points and 17 digs while Justine Tiu had 10 points only as the Lady Red Spikers remained winless in 12 outings.
Meanwhile, Choco Mucho Flying Titans flaunted the trio of Kat Tolentino, Madeleine Madayag and Bea de Leon for the first time as they scored an easy 25-16, 25-12, 25-16 win over Bali Pure Water Defenders./PN
