ILOILO City — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set May 18, 2026 as the deadline for voter registration for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE), warning the public to complete applications immediately as the cutoff date draws near.
Comelec-Iloilo City intensified its call for eligible voters, particularly first-time registrants and those needing to update their records, to visit their respective Offices of the Election Officers (OEOs) before time runs out.
“Deadline of Registration of Voters for 2026 BSKE is on May 18, 2026. Magpa-rehistro ka na,” the poll body said in a public reminder.
Registration services are available from Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in various election offices.
Comelec also outlined the requirements for different applicants. Regular voters aged 18 and above must present a government-issued ID along with a photocopy. For Katipunan ng Kabataan (KK) voters aged 15 to 17, a photocopy of the certificate of live birth and a government-issued or school ID is required.
Applicants seeking corrections in their records must submit a photocopy of their birth certificate, while those updating civil status must present documents such as a marriage certificate, court order, certificate of finality, or Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR), depending on the case.
The Comelec clarified that individuals who are not yet 15 years old during the registration period but will turn 15 on or before the November 2 BSKE may still register and vote in the SK elections.
The poll body also reminded the public that Comelec offices nationwide will be closed every Monday in May 2026 due to an extended work-from-home arrangement under Minute Resolution No. 26-0245. However, an exception will be made on May 18, when offices will remain open to accommodate last-day registrants.
Voter registration for the upcoming BSKE began on October 20, 2025 and will officially end on May 18, 2026./PN
