BACOLOD City –Voter registration will resume on Oct. 3 and last until April 29.

City Election Officer Mavil Majarucon-Siaappealed to would-be voters to register early to avoid the rush that usually happens on the deadline.
Now that it has more time, the local Commission on Elections (Comelec) office will entertain transfer, correction, deactivation, and reactivation of registration.

Sia said they will also hold satellite registrations in barangays and malls.

Comelecsuspended the preparationsfor the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on Oct. 31 this year.

It has deferred all biddings and procurements of election paraphernalia.

Spokesperson James Jimenez earlier said the commission was just waiting for President Rodrigo Duterte to sign the bill postponing the elections.
The Senate and the House of Representatives agreed to move the elections from Oct. 31, 2016 to Oct. 27, 2017.

Voter registration will continue even during Saturdays and holidays, except on Nov. 1, Dec. 24 to 25 and Dec. 30 to 31, Sia said.
