SAN JOSE, Antique – Senior Superintendent Louis Garong claimed the supply of illegal drugs in Antique has reduced by “60 to 80 percent.”
The Antique Police Provincial Office director attributed this to its “very serious” campaign against the drug menace.
Garong said he based his conclusion on the reports the municipal chiefs of police delivered during a recent command conference.
Drug pushers are now having a hard time getting their supply from Metro Manila, he claimed.
“Compared to other provinces, the supply of illegal drugs coming in to Antique is not of the same degree as in Capiz, Aklan and Iloilo,” he said.
Garong acknowledged that the “economic capability of the users” was a factor.
He also denied insinuations that the police plant evidence just so they could achieve their target number of drug suspects arrested.
“They (drug suspects)give all sorts of reasons when arrested,” Garong said.
Strict validation is performed before any suspect is placed in the police’s watch list of drug personalities, he assured. (PNA)
