ILOILO City – Registered voters in this city can now claim their voters’ identification (IDs) cards at the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
These IDs are for those who underwent biometric registration from 2003 to 2012.
“Asta lang anay sa 2012 kay ongoing pa (processing) ang nagpa-register sang 2014 kag 2015,” said City Election Officer Jonathan Sayno.
Around 100,000 voters’ IDs were at the city Comelec office, he revealed.
The city Comelec office is at the second floor of the Iloilo Terminal Market. It is open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“We put up a separate room para indi mag ginamo ang nagapa-register kag ang ma-claim sang ila IDs,” said Sayno.
Although the voters’ ID is not a pre-requisite to vote during elections, Sayno said, it can be helpful for voters tracking their polling precincts.
The voters’ identification card is free, added Sayno.
“If you want to claim your ID, you must personally get it from the office. In case indi mo kaya, kun sin-o ang ma-claim sang ID mo dapat magdala sang iya identification card,” said Sayno.
Voter Raymund Cerenio welcomed the Comelec announcement on the voters’ IDs’ availability.
“Kadugay na sang hulat ko,” said 29-year-old Cerenio who registered with Comelec in 2008 yet.
The 24-year-old Richard Franz Arabis was happy, too. “Valid IDs are important. We can use them in our transactions,” he told Panay News./PN
