VP Sara to attend DOJ probe on alleged kill plot vs PBBM

MANILA – Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio confirmed she will attend the Department of Justice’s preliminary investigation for her alleged “kill” remark against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

According to Duterte-Carpio, she received summons from the Office of the Prosecutor over the complaint filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) before the DOJ.

“Nagkausap na kami ng aking abogado with regard to sa counter-affidavit, tinatapos na lang namin. Mag-appear ako dahil kailangan ko mag-oath,” Duterte-Carpio said in an interview in Cagayan de Oro City.

According to Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon, the preliminary investigation on the complaint has been scheduled for May 9 and May 16.

The NBI recommended the filing of inciting to sedition and grave threat against the Vice President after she said that she ordered someone to kill Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and Speaker Martin Romualdez if an alleged plot against her succeeds.

Duterte-Carpio, however, maintained that her statement was “maliciously taken out of logical context,” saying that it was not a threat as she only highlighted the alleged threat to her security.

The Vice President also stated that she does not regret saying the “kill” remark against Marcos and members of his family, which later on became one of the grounds for her impeachment by the House of Representatives on February 5./PN
