Wake shooting kills 3, hurts 2

BACOLOD City – Three persons were killed  while two others, including a child, were injured after a shooting at a wake in Barangay Bulad, Isabela, Negros Occidental, a police report showed.

Municipal police head Chief Inspector Ruben Pajarito identified the fatalities as the 50-year-old retired soldier Jose Amable, and 70-year-old retired police Alejandro Borres, both of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental and Barangay Bulad resident Federico Bitgue, 29.

The 10-year-old Timothy Arron Archivar and 34-year-old teacher Alquin Genterola Jr. were wounded, Pajarito added.

According to investigators, Amable and Borres were talking to each other at the wake when four unidentified suspects on board two motorcycles fired at them around 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Bitgue, Archivar and Genterola were only hit by stray bullets, the investigators added.

Amable was brought to a hospital in La Castellana, Negros Occidental where he was pronounced “dead on arrival.”

Borres and Bitgue, on the other hand, were rushed to the Ignacio Arroyo Lacson Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Isabela where they were also declared “dead on arrival.”

Meanwhile, Archivar and Genterola were now confined at a hospital in Bacolod City undergoing treatment.

Police were still identifying the suspects and the motive in the shooting./PN
