ROXAS City – Wearing face shield in public transportation, government offices and all establishments is now mandatory here.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas cited the Sangguniang Panlungsod for amending City Ordinance No. 017-2020 (Facemask Ordinance) to include the wearing of face shield.
The ordinance strengthens the “no face shield and facemask, no ride” policy being imposed by the public transport sector here.
It also supports the decision of various establishments not to allow inside their premises people not wearing face shield and facemask.
Those refusing to wear face shield and facemask face the following penalties:
* first offense – P500 fine or half-day (four hours) community service
* second offense – P3,000 fine or one day (eight hours) community service
* third offense – P5,000 fine and/or six months imprisonment.
Face shield and facemask can halt the transmission of SARS-CoV,2, the virus that causes the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
People can catch COVID-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales.
These droplets also land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch COVID-19 by touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth./PN
