VICTOR Wembanyama converted two clutch triples in the endgame as San Antonio Spurs defeated Chicago Bulls, 121-117, in the 2025-26 NBA Regular Season on Monday night (Tuesday in the Philippines) at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
Trailing for most part of the game, the Spurs got four free throws and a dunk from Luke Kornet to close the gap at 111-114 before they tied the score following a three-pointer by Wembanyama with a minute left.
Wembanyama then surged the Spurs ahead at 117-114 with another three-pointer before they sealed the come-from-behind win with free throws from Stephon Castle and Wembanyama.
Wembanyama finished the match with a double-double of 38 points and 12 rebounds along with five assists, five blocks, and a steal as the Spurs notched their eighth win in 10 games.
De’Aarox Fox added 21 markers, Castle posted a double-double of 19 points and 11 assists, while Kornet and Keldon Johnson came off the bench to contributed 16 and 10 points, respectively, for the Spurs.
Kevin Huerter led the Bulls with 23 points, Tre Jones and Ayo Dosunmu added 20 markers apiece, Matas Buzelis contributed 15 points, while Nikola Vucevic and Jalen Smith tallied 11 apiece as they fell to a 6-4 record.
Meanwhile, Luka Doncic powered Los Angeles Lakers with 38 points as they pulled away in the second half to defeat the Charlotte Hornets, 121-111, over at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Rui Hachimura added 21 points, including 13 in the third quarter that saw the Lakers outscore the Hornets 31-15. Austin Reaves chipped in 24 points as Los Angeles improved to an 8-3 record.
Miles Bridges led the Hornets with 34 points, rookie Kon Knueppel narrowly missed his first career triple-double, finishing with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists. They fell to a 3-7 mark.
In other results, Detroit Pistons prevailed over Washington Wizards in overtime, 137-135; while Orlando Magic edged Portland Trail Blazers, 115-112, behind Desmond Bane’s game-winner./PN
