What ‘Tawag’ winner Janine Berdin says on ‘copying’ KZ

KZ Tandingan been dubbed as the Asia’s “Soul Supreme” thanks to her immense talent. It’s no wonder many people look up to her, including “Tawag ng Tanghalan” winner Janine Berdin.

But apparently there’s a very thin line between seeing someone as inspiration for your work, and trying to outright rip off their style. That’s the controversy Berdin, a teen from Cebu, had to face when she made an appearance on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” this Friday.

Asked if she’s “copying” Tandingan, she said: “Maraming pong things na ginagaya ko kay ate KZ kasi idol ko po siya.”

Pero not in the way na ginagaya ko po iyong style niya.

She also recalled the time Tandingan made an impact in her life.

Tandingan has already reacted to the issue, saying that she’s “proud” of Berdin’s achievements and insisting that she has “her own style.” (ABS-CBN News)
