With friends like these, who needs enemies?

RUSSIA is thought of as an international bully ruled by a despot and now it is working to confirm that. The attacks on Ukraine are unforgivable, unjustifiable and have led to so many deaths in both countries but that was just the start.

The latest act of international defiance was to recognize Afghanistan’s Taliban government, so far the only ones that have. The people of Afghanistan are mostly the same as in any country but the religious-based government repress their people in so many ways although women are repressed in all ways.

If Russia wants new friends they could withdraw from Ukraine and this would be so appreciated that other countries would look to re-establish contact.

Hang with some of the good guys, not the worst of the worst.

A whale of a tax break

Tax bills are rarely exciting reading but United States President Donald Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill” contains an odd, probably unique tax break. Inuit whaling captains are able to the claim costs of repairing their boats and the weapons they use up to $50,000. It could seem to be a reasonable work-related claim but it is given as a charitable contribution.

Don’t bother finding it in the 940 pages, it doesn’t make it any more sensible until you consider it in the light of the Alaskan Republican senators, Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan, needing support to help them retain their seats.

The charitable component arises in the idea that they are supporting their communities but it isn’t very charitable to the whales that will be killed by exploding harpoons.

This bill has been attacked on the bug issues, tax breaks for rich people and Medicare breaks for poor people but how many other odd, and actually offensive issues are hidden in the 940 pages? Even the idea of tax breaks for weaponry should be condemned.

How will history, and Mother Nature, remember Trump and his “Big, Beautiful Bill”?

Great power brings great opportunities

Now that the great presidential best mates team members are no longer mates, there may be some harsh responses.

Elon Musk is looking at opposing Trump-favored candidates whereas Trump is threatening to deport Musk.

The President has stated, “We’ll have to take a look” in relation to a possible deportation.

Just a small question: Does the “Alligator Alcatraz” venue have a penthouse suite?

Do what you say to do

It’s not considered proper to speak poorly of the dead but the truth should still be told.

Jimmy Swaggart spoke loudly, and profitably, about his religious beliefs and encouraged others to follow his example. The problem was that his example included his close, very close, association with a number of “fallen women” although he did admit “I have sinned”, after this became public knowledge.

It would be interesting to see how he explains this when he gets to the Pearly Gates./PN
